Laura Whitmore Shares Her Excitement That Love Island Is Back This Year
"I think we all need some love in our life this summer.”
Laura Whitmore has shared with Love Island how excited she is that the show is returning to our screens this summer, although it is set to look pretty different from the reality show we know and love.
The presenter appeared on the Late Late Show yesterday evening and spoke to Ryan Tubridy about how much she is looking forward to the shows return.
Laura initially filled in for Caroline Flack as presenter on the show, before Caroline’s tragic death earlier last year. The Bray native will be back hosting the program for the next series and shared; “I think it’s been a really tough year. It’s a show that I’ve only worked on once. I was filling in on it.”

The Bray native spoke about how much she thinks the show is needed, after it’s cancellation last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
She shared; “I think it’s been nice for it to have a break. But I think we all need some love in our life this summer.”
“There’s only so much news you can watch, and crime dramas – which I’ve been doing a lot of.”
Earlier this week show bosses announced it was officially coming back this summer, so get your themed water bottles ready and have Twitter on stand-by, it’s happening.

With travel restrictions still firmly in place around the world, it’s uncertain if the summer series will take place in the usual sunny Spain. But, not to fear, as we’ve been assured that the show will happen irrespective of location. The most recent news on this is that if the cast and crew can’t get their tanned little bums over to Mallorca then they’ll head to the UK Mallorca, aka The Channel island of Jersey.
“The Channel Islands get plenty of sunshine so it makes sense to hold Love Island there if we can’t get back to Spain,” an insider told The Mirror.
“Either way we’re going to put out a belting series. Viewers have missed Love Island for the whole of 2020 and they’re desperate to have it back. They’re going to love what we do, wherever we do it.”
While an exact date is yet to be announced if we go off other year’s schedule it should be on air around the start of June and run for eight weeks into the beginning of August.
