The Derry Girls series finale aired this week and we already miss the gang on our screens!
Since the finale aired, we have been getting some great interviews from the cast as well as sweet Instagram posts of behind-the-scenes moments.
In a clip from an interview posted to Channel 4’s TikTok Louisa Harland, who plays Orla in the show reveals a fun fact that fans may not know, “Something the viewers wouldn’t know is that my school skirt is actually shorts because my character isn’t defined by a gender,” she said.
Plus, in Louisa’s post saying goodbye to the character, she uses the pronoun ‘they’ when speaking about Orla. “Orla McCool. What an honour. I’ll miss them forever,” she wrote.

We love this information! Yes to the representation and inclusivity!
Fans of the show were just as delighted with the fact, with one writing, “canon non-binary Orla????!!” on TikTok, while on Instagram a fan wrote, “Our non-binary legend ❤️”.
Louisa is not the only Derry Girl who has given fans exciting news recently, during an interview on the Tea With Me podcast, Jamie-Lee let it slip that there might be something in the works between herself and Saoirse-Monica Jackson!

“We’re making stuff already”, she said before adding, “We’re not going to talk about any of that…We have a couple of things in the pipeline.”
Hmmm… whatever it is we are here for it. A script perhaps? A spin-off? A play? So many possibilities but whatever it is we will be keeping our eyes out for updates.
