Love Island Has Made A Major Change To The First Episode

This could change things a lot.

This has been our last full week without love Island for a ten-week period and we are so excited. We already know about the major changes in this series, with it being the longest yet and the islanders living in a new villa, but the show has revealed one more huge switch-up from previous years and it’s going to be featured in episode one.

The Islanders usually walk into the villa and have the choice of who they’d like to couple up with first themselves. As more people enter these couples could be split as people change their mind by stepping forward when they see someone their “type on paper” or steal a previous partner. We love this awkward pairing off method as it kicks off the drama from day one, but this season things are a little different.

Before the first episode even airs viewers have access to vote on who should couple up with who on day one. Interesting… We don’t know whether the original method is scrapped altogether or if there will still be some element of choice involved, but we are looking forward to seeing this new twist.

Sharing the news on social media the show’s official Instagram wrote, “For the first time ever, you get to have your say on who couples up on Day 1! Head to the app to play matchmaker and pick which boy you think should couple up with each girl. The polls will close at 9am Saturday, head to the link in our bio now.”

They also revealed that Davide is not included in the polls, which suggests he could be the ‘bombshell’ in the first episode. The app isn’t available in Ireland right now so we don’t know the inner workings of the voting process, but we look forward to seeing the results!

Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 6th June on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
