Love Island 2020 star Demi Jones has shared a health update with her followers after undergoing surgery to remove a potentially cancerous lump.

Sharing how the surgery went, Demi posted to her Instagram stories from her hospital bed. Explaining how she feels post-op she said:

“Face and neck really swollen but the surgery went really well”

“The lump on my thyroid was as big as a golf ball”

“The NHS staff at the QA Portsmouth have been unbelievable.”

A short while after Demi then said that she’s going to take a small break from social media as she allows herself to heal.

Demi first shared her worries with her followers a number of weeks ago when doctors told her of their concerns for the lump on her neck. Attending a clinic to get checked, Demi said:

“I was sat there in this waiting room and it was full of old people and I was the only young one there”

“I thought I’m so young for God’s sake”

Continuing on and keeping a positive attitude Demi said:

“I know loads of women go through this, I’ll be fine”

“It might not even be cancer but they’ve got to cut it out to find out. I’m shocked at the moment.”

“I’ll be ok, when I get it removed it’ll be fine.”

Urging her fans to always have their lumps checked, Demi revealed that she was originally meant to attend her appointment for the lump six months ago, with doctors telling her that she was fine.

“At my scan they said, ‘everything looks fine,’ and went to send me on my way”

“I challenged it and asked if they could do more, in which they said ‘oh well we can test the fluid if you want us to?”

“Thank god I asked as it was the fluid that can be potentially cancerous. Always push!”

Wishing Demi a very speedy recovery!
