It seems like years have passed since the last series of Love Island, as many of the couples move so fast after the show ends.

Winners Liam and Millie appear to still be together, while both Faye and Teddy, and Toby and Chloe have also recently moved in together. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be for runners up Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank, who split at the end of 2021.

The couple released a statement in December, explaining: “We are extremely sad to announce that we have decided to end our romantic relationship.”

They added: “We have had a fantastic journey and we will always have a special bond between us. We will continue to be very much in one another’s lives and support each other in every way.

“We are so grateful that we have shared this Love Island experience with each other, and we will continue to support each other’s careers.”

Now, about two months on from the separation, Kaz has spoken out for the first time. She returned to YouTube for the first time after the split, for a catch-up with followers, explaining she needed some time away to work on her confidence.

Speaking about the split, Kaz said: “I’m single now, I was in a relationship the last time I was on this channel. And being single, in itself, that’s not an issue. That’s fine… What is really hard is Twitter. Oh my gosh, that place.” Adding that while ‘everyone’ has their opinions, she is finding it difficult.

Continuing, Kaz shared that the pressure of everyone watching has made her experience anxiety since leaving the villa and had a knock on her confidence.

“I get it, I get it. On one hand, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that’s fine, and a lot of people saw things that I didn’t see at the time. I was very naïve, and it’s okay. It’s fine,” she said.

“You know what? I learned so much from that break up and period of time. At the end of the day, some relationships work and some relationships just don’t, and this one just didn’t.”

Speaking about why she and Tyler split, Kaz admitted she didn’t feel like she was ‘fully appreciated’ while in the relationship.

“I was never faking it. I never acted up… I was very myself and I was how I’d be in any other relationship,” she said.

“I don’t think I was fully appreciated, but that’s just life. Sometimes that happens, and that’s okay.”
