Love Island’s Scott Defends Former Flame Catherine Agbaje

He's not having it!

Scott van-der-Sluis is defending his former Love Island flame Catherine Agbaje, following his exit from the villa. The former couple hit it off on the hit reality series, but when the Casa Amor challenge rolled around, the Dublin girl recoupled with bombshell Elom.

Catherine and Scott then had an intense falling out, with several confrontations. After which, fans blamed Catherine claiming she was too cruel to her former partner. Leading to her and Elom being voted out of the villa, several weeks ago.

However, fresh from being eliminated from the villa this week, Scott has been catching up with everything that happened while he was cut off from the outside world, and he isn’t happy with how Catherine has been treated.

“Me and Catherine are friends now, I just want to put it out there, obviously this is a reality show. You only see an hour every day, and I’ve seen a little bit of what’s been said to Catherine…it’s not right at all,” the pro-footballer said on Love Island Aftersun.

Explaining that they had reconciled while Catherine was in the villa, and got along well as friends, prior to her elimination.

Claiming these moments weren’t shown to the public.

Telling host Maya Jama: “I just want to put it out there and just stick up for her, because we did get on as friends before she left. You don’t know what’s shown, but we did get on as friends, and we’re in a good place.”

The Welsh man also revealed if he and Catherine have a future outside the Love Island villa.

As Maya asked: “Is there anything more than friendship at this point? Because you’ve obviously seen, rumours are swirling around and I did see, apparently she’s already been in your DMs, can you confirm, deny?”

While Scott did smile coyly upon hearing Maya’s question (and the audience’s reaction), the 22-year-old explained that they are just friends.

“At the moment we get on as friends really well. There is nothing different to that at the moment.”

But Maya prompted: “So maybe a date, maybe a reunion, a rekindling?”

However, the pair seem content with friendship. As Scott said: “I don’t know about a date just yet. I was sort of over that situation in the villa. You can never say never with it, but for me at the moment, I’m sort of done with it.”
