Matthew McConaughey Reveals He Is Also A #MeToo Victim In New Memoir

"I’m talking late-night knocks on my hotel door, to passing by and even touching me."

In a recent interview Matthew McConaughey has revealed that he is also a #MeToo victim. The A-lister who has starred in some of our favourite films from How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days to The Wolf Of Wall Street, shared that he has been subjected to inappropriate behaviour throughout his career.

Speaking with the Irish Independent he shared that women had made unwanted advances towards him as he moved further into the spotlight.

“It was middle-aged women who were really wealthy. They seemed to feel like they had a right to trespass on my territory. I’m talking late-night knocks on my hotel door, to passing by and even touching me… there was a real sense of entitlement.”

“Usually they had quite a bit of champagne in them. I guess you could say I was a #MeToo victim, but hey, they’re all forgiven on my end.”

The 50 year old’s memoir, Greenlights has just been released and goes into great detail about his early teen years. In the book, The Dallas Buyer Club star shared that he was first victim to predatory behaviour as a teenager when he was “molested.”

He goes on to to detail the loss of his virginity at 15 which he says he was blackmailed into; “I was blackmailed into having sex for the first time when I was 15. I was certain I was going to hell for the premarital sex.”

“Today, I am merely certain that I hope that’s not the case.”

Sharing that he has kept diaries for most of his life, this is sure to be an interesting look at his entire career. Greenlights is available now!
