Maura Higgins Admits She Had ‘No Career Strategy’ When Going On Love Island
"It really changed my life."
Maura Higgins without doubt is one of the biggest names to grace the Love Island villa.
Entering as a bombshell in season five she immediately became a fan favourite.
While she didn’t win the show, she definitely left the show as one of the most successful contestants. From now being the social host of Love Island USA to her modelling career to even making her film debut, she has been on the up and up since the reality show wrapped.
However, she has now confessed that she didn’t think she would last a week inside the villa!
Appearing on the cover of Maxim, Maura confessed: “It really changed my life. I genuinely thought when I was going onto the show, because Ireland couldn’t vote, that I’d only last week.
“I kind of just did it for fun. I don’t think I even thought about it. I just did things in a spur-of-the-moment way. I think I just get bored easily, so I like to try something different and throw myself into it.”
She went on to say: “I never expected anything and maybe that was the best thing to do. There was no career strategy or intention.”
She also gushed about the opportunities she has gotten since leaving the show. Including getting to work Stateside.
“I was waiting for a lot of the reaction to be like, ‘We can’t understand her!’,” she confessed in reference to her thick Longford accent.
“But there was none of that. The Americans love the Irish! They love the accent! So it’s been a good thing.
“I’ve always loved America. That’s why I feel so grateful—I never thought I’d be working here. I don’t have a five-year plan, and I don’t like to put pressure on things. When opportunities come, grab them, and see what happens.”
G’wan Maura!
