She’s thriving!

Hours after Selena Gomez announced the release of a new single later this month, fellow Disney Channel alum Miley Cyrus jumped in on the action announcing the release of a brand new single called Used To Be Young which will be available to stream from August 25th.

It seems Miley was all about that shade as she subtly threw shade at her past in her announcement. The 30-year-old took to Instagram to announce the news with a short video clip to her 213 million followers. In the clip she wore a Mickey Mouse t-shirt beneath a red sparkly body suit with calf length sheer black footless tights and bedazzled high heels. She kept her make-up natural and wore her hair in natural beachy waves.

Alongside the announcement of her new single, Miley also revealed that an extended version of  Endless Summer Vacation “Backyard Sessions” will debut just a day before the new song’s release.

She captioned the video announcing the song: “August 25TH. USED TO BE YOUNG. In celebration of my new single release Endless Summer Vacation (backyard sessions) continues. Aug 24th @ 10pm EDT on ABC. This time with a retrospective interview sharing stories about the first 30 years of my life in honour of U2BY. This song is dedicated to my loyal fans. I love YOU for loving every version of ME. Always, Miley.”

Miley teased the new tune days ago with a new Instagram post where she shared the lyrics: “I know I used to be crazy. I know I used to be fun. You say I used to be wild. I say I used to be young.”

She first shared the lyrics during her British Vogue interview earlier this year where she said: “I carried some guilt and shame around myself for years because of how much controversy and upset I really caused.”

Miley continued: “Now that I’m an adult, I realise how harshly I was judged. I was harshly judged as a child by adults and now, as an adult, I realize that I would never harshly judge a child.”

August 25th is about to be chockablock for us Disney Channel child star fans. Between Selena and now Miley Cyrus, it seems the gang is pulling out all the stops… It makes us wonder who will be next Demi Lovato? Dove Cameron? Or dare we jinx it, a Bridget Mendler song? – we’re still bopping away to Ready or Not.
