#MyBlogLife: STELLAR Meets Sex And Beauty Blogger Cat Wilson From Big Blonde Girl
We're chatting all things kinky with the lady behind the Big Blonde Girl Blog, Cat Wilson.
Tell us about starting your blog?
I started in December 2012 as a pre-new year’s resolution to myself. I was living with my partner at the time, out of work and down in the dumps. My friends don’t like beauty or make-up, so it was somewhere for me to vent and chat about that. Now it’s somewhere for me to vent and chat about sex too!
How often do you blog?
I do one sex entry a week with my #SexualSunday piece, and about three beauty entries.
Why beauty and sex?
As the saying goes, a little bit of what you like never hurts. I’m a massive beauty lover and I also have a big interest in sex. No one else in Ireland seemed to be blogging about it, so I decided to change that. I like pushing boundaries.
Ireland seems to be very behind the times when it comes to anything sex-related.
Do you think Irish people have a different attitude to sex?
Ireland seems to be very behind the times when it comes to anything sex-related. There’s a certain feeling that you’re just not supposed to talk about it.
What’s your must-have beauty product?
That’s like asking me to choose between my two cats! If I had to pick, I’d choose Benefit They’re Real! mascara, Seventeen’s Phwoarr concealer and a Sleek eye shadow.
Do you get much negativity?
It’s surprising the amount of hate I’ve received from people who might be very religious. People email me all the time telling me what I do is wrong.
So, what’s next?
I’ve plans to try speed dating and kink nights in Dublin some time in the future. I think it’d be something fun to write about – and give readers a few giggles. I’ve noticed a new trend of talking about dating experiences: now it’s perfectly acceptable to say you met your other half on a dating site, which is nice. I hope sex’ll be more openly written and talked about in Ireland soon.
What’s the biggest sexual taboo?
Anything to do with men enjoying anal sex. There’s still a huge misconception that if a man enjoys anal sex of any kind, then he must be gay. It frustrates me that we shame others out of enjoying sexual experiences for fear of the judgment and repercussions. Fifty Shades Of Grey has definitely made some things more acceptable.
How important is it to be adventurous?
I don’t think its mandatory, but I always encourage it. If you’re happy having a normal ‘quiet’ sex life, then more power to you, but I do think it can help a relationship become closer.
Best sex shop?
Miss Fantasia, Good Vibrations and Basic Instincts.
What are your top sex tips for the Irish Woman?
- Masturbate. If you don’t know what you like and how you like it, how will any partner know where to begin?
- Talk about what you like. Once you know each other’s preferences, its much easier to have great sex.
- Find a partner who listens to what you like and want. They’re not worthy if they don’t respect you. Go to bed alone and repeat step one!
What sex toys do you recommend?
- Doxy massage wand.
- Kegel balls made of silicone.
- A cock ring.
