Nicola Coughlan Feels ‘Incredibly Privileged’ To Be First Irish Barbie

Nicola Coughlan is in the upcoming Barbie Movie – if you didn’t know that already, now you do.

She is appearing in the highly anticipated film alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling… even if it is only for “two seconds” as she jokes.

She shared her delight at the UK premiere last week to be the first Irish Barbie.

“Ah sure, would you look? Ah, look, it’s a great day for the parish. Great day for the parish,” she told FM104.

“Greta’s been one of my favourite filmmakers since Francis Ha, how I watched that when I was like a properly struggling actor, I’d moved to London in my 20s, and everything she’s made has just been perfect,” she enthused.

“I think people haven’t gotten the fact yet that this is a Greta Gerwig movie. Yes, it’s Barbie, and it’s pink and fabulous, but it’s got such heart integrity.

“It’s got the most incredible ensemble cast. To be in this movie for two seconds, I feel incredibly privileged.”

This comes after star Margot shared her love for Nicola on the pink carpet – and we don’t blame her, honestly. What a queen.

“I love Ireland, I love the Irish, Nicola being in the movie is just the icing on the cake for the Barbie Movie. We’re so lucky,” she enthused.

The Barbie Movie hits cinemas July 21st.
