We adore Nina Dobrev from her role in the classic teen drama The Vampire Diaries, but can you imagine if she was a part of one of your other fave teen dramas?

Yep Nina was very nearly in a Gossip Girl spin-off, not the new Gossip Girl that’s on today, but one that never made it to air about a young Lily Van Der Woodsen, which would have been very entertaining.

If this link is news to you, you’re not alone, Nina admitted that she herself didn’t even remember auditioning for it until she read an article about it online.

Speaking to US Weekly, Nina said, “To be honest with you, when I saw that headline and I clicked on it … I didn’t remember it…And then I read it in depth and remembered. [The article] jogged my memory. And I was like, ‘Oh yeah, that’s right. I did audition for that. That did happen.'”

She admitted she wasn’t meant to land the part because life had bigger things in store for her, “I think I even remember when they sent me the audition and I was like, ‘I’m never gonna get this. I don’t look like [Kelly Rutherford],’ but I did it anyway.

“I’m glad that I did that anyway because … I think probably a month later I got Vampire Diaries…Everything’s a stepping stone. One thing leads to the other and it always works out exactly like it’s supposed to.”

Nina recently made her directorial debut with a short film named The One, which premiered at Mammoth Film Festival.

Speaking of the project on Instagram Nina wrote, “I gave birth to my first baby. • • • Film baby, that is. I conceived it a few years ago, carried it with me for a really long time, and I (finally) got to see it with a live audience for the first time.

“It was so special to share this intimate experience with everyone at the @mammothfilmfestival. I am buzzing with excitement. Thank you for your support along the way. Excited for this next chapter of (directing) parenthood #TheOne.”
