So Matthew McConaughey May Be Running For Governor Of Texas And Caitlyn Jenner Is Running For Governor Of California

Do you think celebs should just stay in their lane?

This week in the weird and wonderful world of celebrities, it was revealed that two A-listers were running for governor in two separate states.

Obviously this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of celebrities running for public office in the US, as actor Ronald Reagan became President in 1981 and of course Arnold Schwarzenegger, was elected as governor of California in 2003.

And how could we forget another famous face that has connections with the Kardashians? Kanye West also had a disastrous run for President just last year.

Apparently actor, Matthew McConaughey is running for governor of Texas. This is something the star has expressed interest in, in the past, but now seems to be taking it seriously.

Although he hasn’t yet made any official announcement, Dallas Morning News ran a poll to see how popular he would be against the current governor, Greg Abbot. McConaughey scored an impressive 45% amongst registered voters, with Abbot scoring 33%.

The 51-year-old has previously shared that he is a centrist candidate which is interesting as he is someone who wouldn’t polarise voters. However, by not choosing Republican or Democrat it is difficult to see how he could win voters from either side of the divide.

At the moment, news outlets are waiting for the actor to respond to the polling and to see if he will officially enter the race.

Caitlyn Jenner however, has confirmed that she is running for Governor of California. The former Olympian gold medalist, reality TV star and parent to Brody, Kylie and Kendall Jenner revealed the news on Instagram yesterday.

Her lengthy statement began; “California has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality.”

It is unclear at the moment if she is running for the Republicans or the Democrats, which we’re sure will be revealed in time. If Caitlyn was successful it would make her the first trans person in America to hold a state governorship.

All we can say is that we are raging there isn’t going to be another season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, there are so many avenues to explore here! Imagine Kris Jenner going from Momager to campaign manager? Kendall and Kylie making speeches at rallies?

Lets hope whatever Kris has in the works with Hulu is starting soon…
