Talk of a possible Friends reunion has been in the pipeline for over a decade now, but aside from a couple of one-off group interviews, an actual re-make doesn’t seem to be coming any time soon.

However if you happened to be walking through New York’s Grand Central Station earlier this year, you’d have been forgiven for thinking a brand new episode of the much-loved sitcom was being filmed before your very eyes.

Why? Well, allow Emily Blunt to explain…

The English actress is currently doing the US talk show rounds for her new film Girl On The Train, and she revealed to Jimmy Fallon this week that things went a bit wild the day Lisa Kudrow came on set.

Former Friends star Lisa has a small but pivotal role in the film: a character who was originally named Monica. A coincidence which gets even weirder when you consider that Emily plays a woman named Rachel.

“So Lisa Kudrow plays this friend of mine, and we were shooting in Grand Central Station,” Blunt recalled.

And so we had about 300 extras and then we had actual commuters coming into Grand Central who heard on the loud speaker, ‘Okay guys, we’re going to roll on Rachel.’ And then they see Lisa Kudrow walking on, and then they hear, ‘Guys, we’re going to do a closeup on Monica.’ And I saw two people have an aneurysm. They were like ‘IS THIS FRIENDS? FRIENDS REUNION!’ And it was like, it was so exciting. Then they were disappointed.”

Emily added that producers later changed Lisa’s name to Martha, for fear her original name would get too much of a “laugh” in test screenings. Well, at least her name wasn’t Pheobe…
