Ovie Soko Announces Major Career Change

Ovie Soko scored points on the basketball court, and won hearts in the Love Island villa, and now he is taking on a new challenge.

Ovie is leaving the court and villa behind him, as he has announced a new career move.

The basketball star has revealed that he is stepping into the world of sports commentating as the British Basketball League’s new lead analyst.

Ovie will soon be taking to our screens once again, as his coverage will be airing on Sky Sports, Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, and the League’s own YouTube channel.

Sharing his delight at landing the impressive gig, the 32-year-old said: “Taking this next step with the British Basketball League – it feels like I’ve come full circle.”

“I really enjoyed my time playing with the London Lions, and it feels great to be taking on this new challenge and be part of such a talented broadcast team this season.”

“I feel that my experience in the British league, as well as my years playing in Europe, Japan and the U.S, allows me to bring some real depth of insight from the court.”

Ovie joined the 2019 series of Love Island, as a Casa Amor bombshell. Placing third in the contest with his partner India Reynolds.

The couple split four months after leaving the villa.

Prior to his stay in the villa, Ovie had played for Boulazac, Aries Trikala, and Murcia. In 2019 he signed to the London Lions, followed by a stint at Le Mans Sarthe in 2020, before returning to the London Lions in 2022.
