You couldn’t go anywhere this summer without seeing an A-list celebrity here in Ireland. With filming back on for TV and film, our island had plenty of Hollywood’s greatest knocking about, and one person we’d love to see back was Patrick Dempsey.

The Grey’s Anatomy star did not hold back with his love for Ireland whilst he was here, only too happy to pose for selfies as well as sharing his travels on social media.

This week he spoke to his former co-star Ellen Pompeo on her podcast about his visit here; “Oh, I fell in love with the place.”

Patrick, who was here filming the sequel to Enchanted shared;  “I was everywhere, any chance I got. I ended up staying in the north of Ireland, which was fascinating, I learned a lot up there.”

“And then I was in nature, so it was the Spring of the year, and you have all the lambs, cows, and the calves and everything.”

“It’s everything you would imagine it to be. The people are great,” he added.

The only downside to his trip was that there was so much more he would have liked to do. As we all know, one of the best things to do when travelling is to go out for dinner and drinks and soak up the atmosphere of a place.

Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, he shared that this limited what he could do; “The only problem was you just had this barrier because everyone had their masks on.”

“So you couldn’t go to the pubs, you couldn’t go to the restaurants, everything was locked down. So I didn’t get a chance to see that.”

“But great hiking, great culture, really fun. Rainy, miserable weather, and then it gets hot. It gets in the 80s and people meltdown completely they can’t handle it. But I loved it.”

We guess this means he’ll just have to come back for another visit!
