Paul Mescal Wins Award For All Of Us Strangers At British Independent Film Awards
There's no stopping him!
We’re tiptoeing into award season.
That means that the frontrunners for the big wins are already being marked out. And it looks like we could have yet another Irish filled award roster!
In fact, Paul Mescal is already expanding his trophy cabinet as he has won his first award of the season – and it’s so deserved.
The Maynooth man picked up Best Supporting Performance at the British Independent Film Awards for his role in All Of Us Strangers.
The film also won Best British Independent Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay for Andrew Haigh.
Andrew Scott was nominated for Best Lead Performance, unfortunately he missed out on the win.
It was English actor Mia McKenna-Bruce who won the award on the night for her breakout role in How to Have Sex.
All of Us Strangers is a loose adaption of Taichi Yamada’s 1987 novel, Strangers.

Andrew plays Adam, a writer, who is looking back at his past while Paul plays his enigmatic lover, Harry. While Adam starts to delve into his past and his relationship with his parents he is able to travel back to a time when his parents are alive.
“One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbour Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life,” the official synopsis for the film reads.
“As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.”
While the original story takes place in Tokyo during the 1980s, Andrew Haigh’s adaptation is set in modern London. And it sounds like both Andrew and Paul are trying out their English accents for the roles.
