People started queuing from the early hours of this morning at Penneys stores all across Ireland. As stores with on-street access reopened their doors today, it’s safe to say people missed the high street retailer. Many customers were even seen “camping out” outside shop doors from 5am this morning, all with the hope of being the first to get into the store this morning.

Today marks the first day Penneys has opened its doors in Ireland, after 12 weeks of closure following government orders and concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

With people now in need of everything from socks to pyjamas and summer clothing, the demand for the store to reopen this morning was high and the heavy footfall is expected to continue throughout the weekend.

However, in order make sure everyone is kept safe and healthy, Penneys has released a video showcasing all the changes in-store. A video which is important for customers to watch prior to visiting their local branch.

Fitting rooms will remain closed, as will makeup counters, areas to receive beauty treatments, and social distancing signs will be clearly marked throughout the store.

Penneys is also advising people to only take the lifts in store if needed, with a two person capacity now in place.
