Sam Thompson Addresses ‘Strictly Curse’ Speculation About GF Zara McDermott

Zara McDermott is making some big career moves, as she is preparing to hit the dancefloor as the first Love Island star to join Strictly Come Dancing.

But while life in the ballroom will no doubt be different from her time in the villa (and in Chelsea) the shows have something in common – complicated romance.

Yep, Strictly might be all about dancing but it has grown famous for splitting up relationships as new connections are formed on the dance floor.

But despite its infamous reputation, Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson isn’t worried about his GF appearing on the show.

Made In Chelsea fans will remember the couple previously split after Zara was unfaithful.

In 2020, the relationship ended when Zara confessed to cheating on Sam, while she was appearing on the Celebrity X Factor a year before. However, the couple soon rekindled their romance and have been going strong ever since.

Looking back at the incident, Sam admitted he doesn’t doubt Zara’s loyalty, saying on his Staying Relevant podcast with Pete Wicks: “She was 22… so f**king young. You know when you look at them and you go, ‘She ain’t going to do that again?’ I could see in her face.”

“You can just tell when someone has a beautiful heart and a beautiful soul and just f**ked up.”

Sam also explained why he forgave Zara, confessing that his past with infidelity played a part.

The 31-year-old was in a tumultuous relationship with MIC co-star Tiffany Watson from 2014-2017, which saw them both partake in cheating.

“You’d be some w**ker to have done it yourself and can’t forgive,” Sam shared about rekindling his romance with Zara.

When news of Zara infidelity broke, she released a statement, saying: “A huge mistake I made a year ago has recently come to light and I want to face this head on.”

“I don’t condone being unfaithful and I made a huge mistake at a time in my life where I was hugely selfish and immature. I believe I have learnt so much from my mistake.”

“I want to apologise to my Sam for everything I have put him through, for the pain, the embarrassment, the anger and the hurt. All I want to do is make this right and I think the least he deserves is me being honest with myself and all of you. I love you Sam. Forever x.”
