Selena Gomez is looking back at her journey with Lupus, sharing appreciation for friend Francia Raisa, who donated her kidney to the star in 2017.

Opening up on Apple TV+’s Dear… the singer reflected back to 2014, when she was first diagnosed.

Sharing what it was like to find out the new, Selena confessed she had few symptoms then, making it hard to comprehend.

Explaining: “It was just my body fighting itself on the inside. That was the most surreal part, because I never felt fatigue; I was young, I felt completely fine.”

“So hearing from a doctor, ‘You could have had a stroke onstage, you could have died’ — it was a lot. But I didn’t allow it to sink in; I didn’t want to process it.”

When Selena’s began to worsen in 2017, her friend Francia volunteered to act as her kidney donor. With the girls undergoing the operation that same year.

Speaking about the amazing act of kindness, Selena shared her gratitude to Francia.

“My best friend. Her name is Francia. She said, ‘No, I am absolutely getting tested’ and within three days, she went to get tested, and she was a match. And it was one of those moments where I felt watched over. I know I was so so so lucky,” The Only Murders In The Building star explained.

“I understand that that doesn’t happen for a lot of people, and I know the outcome of some of those situations and how serious they are, so I do not take it lightly that it’s happened to me that way.”

“I will never ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia, the idea of someone not even second-guessing to be a donor was unbelievably overwhelming,” she added.

Late last year rumours of a feud between the gals began to spread amid the release of Selena’s tell-all documentary release, titled My Mind & Me, in which the star omits to mention the name of her kidney donor friend.

The singer and mental health advocate expressed that Taylor Swift was her best friend in the industry in a Rolling Stone interview, saying,  “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong.”

When a quote of Selena saying Taylor was her only friend in the industry was posted to Instagram, Francia reportedly commented, then deleted the word, “interesting”.

Responding to the rumors of a feud, Selena took to TikTok, commenting “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know,” on a clip of Stephanie Tleiji (@stephwithdadeets) explaining the alleged drama.
