It’s a well know fact that Shakira’s hips don’t lie… and apparently neither do her song lyrics as she just got brutally honest about her breakup from footballer Gerard Piqué in her latest track.
The pair split in June 2022, after 11 years together, and share two sons, Milan and Sasha.
At the time there were rumours of infidelity on Gerard’s part but their official statement made no mention of animosity, simply saying: “We regret to confirm that we are separating.” Which wasn’t a lot to go by… but now Shakira is spilling all the tea.
Shortly after their breakup Gerard being seeing 23-year-old, Clara Chía, and in her latest song, a Spanish-language collaboration with the Argentinian DJ Bizarrap titled BZRP Music Session #53 , the Colombian songstress sings: “I’m worth two 22-year-olds”

But the shade does not end there!
Continuing on, she sings: “You swapped a Ferrari for a [Renault] Twingo/You swapped a Rolex for a Casio.
“A wolf like me isn’t for guys like you/For guys like you/I’m too good for you and that’s why you’re with someone just like you.”
Even hitting out at Gerard’s mum, she says: “You left me with my mother-in-law as my neighbor, the media at my door and in debt with the treasury.”
The song has been absolutely LOVED by fans, raking up 63m YouTube views in 24 hours, making it the most watched new Latin song in the platform’s history. It’s also blown up on TikTok, and taken over Twitter.

Speaking to Elle in September Shakira referenced the breakdown of her relationship as, “the darkest hours of my life”, and admitted it is hard for her to talk about.
Although Shakira has been open about her struggle with the heartbreak, the singer recently shared an uplifting message with her Instagram followers heading into 2023, posting a screenshot from her notes app on Instagram she wrote, “Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has a surgeon’s hands.”
“Even if someone’s betrayed us, we must continue to trust others. When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth. Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference.
“The ones who leave are fewer than the many who stay by our side. Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human, so that even while suffering heartache we can continue to love.”
