Irish fans of Euphoria were delighted this week to find out that Californian actor Angus Cloud, who plays character Fezco, has Irish parents – and even considered moving to Ireland before he was cast in the breakout role.

HBO’s massively popular show follows a group of high school students as they navigate a troubling landscape of trauma, identity, love and addiction. Zendaya plays the show’s lead role Rue, a recovering addict just out of rehab, while Cloud plays a likeable drug dealer alongside actors Alexa Demie, Dominic Fike and Hunter Schafer.

In a 2019 interview with the Wall Street Journal, Cloud shared ‘I was going to move to Ireland. All my family live out there’.

In a further revelation, fans uncovered the budding actor’s full name; Conor (Angus Cloud) Hickey, which is about as Irish as it gets.

Fans took to Twitter to express their amusement, with user @stebeccarone tweeting that Conor Hickey sounds like an ‘U18’s hurler for the local GAA team’, and others saying the ginger beard should’ve tipped us all off immediately!

The 27-year-old, who was born and raised in Oakland, had no acting experience prior to being cast in the show. Cloud was spotted on the streets of Manhattan and has said that he thought he was being scammed when an agent approached him for his number. Luckily for him (and for us), he took a chance and found himself on a first-class flight to LA to film the first episode.

We hope the next flight he catches will be a trip to the Emerald Isle so we can officially stamp him as our own!
