Sorry, But You’ve Been Making Tea Wrong All This Time
Milk first or milk after? The debate has FINALLY been settled.
It’s one of the most heated debates around: just how do you make the perfect cuppa? Is it milk in first or milk in last that makes the best brew?
Well, now that debate has finally been put to bed and by Tetley’s Master blender Sebastian Michaelis no less.
Chatting to Time Out, Sebastian revealed that there’s really only one way to make a great cuppa and that’s by putting the milk in (drumroll please) AFTER the tea, not before.
Why so? According to Sebastian, if you plonk the milk in first you โwill reduce the water temperature and inhibit the brewingโ, essentially wrecking your cupan tae.
And on that note, we’re off to enjoy a brew.
