Taylor Swift Is Having None Of Damon Albarn After His Recent Comments

Taylor Swift might be known for shaking off the haters. However, she wasn’t gonna let go of Damon Albarn’s recent comments about her music. He actually earned a rare reply from T.S. herself.

While Damon, the lead singer of Blur, was being interviewed for The Los Angeles Times, Taylor Swift was brought up. To which he said, “She doesn’t write her own songs.”

When it was pointed out that Taylor’s written/co-written all her songs, he went on to say, “That doesn’t count. I know what co-writing is. Co-writing is very different to writing. I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes.”

He then went on to compare Taylor and Billie Eilish, saying that he preferred Billie’s “darker — less endlessly upbeat” style.

Well, Taylor was having none of this and actually responded to Damon on Twitter, writing, “@DamonAlbarn I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really fucked up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.”

She then cheekily tweeted, “PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering 😑”

After Damon’s comments, Taylor received plenty of support, including from her friend and frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff.

Jack took to Twitter to defend Taylor. Writing, “i’ve never met damon albarn and he’s never been to my studio but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs taylor writes and brings in. herb.”

Another pal who showed some support for Tay was Aaron Dessner, who Taylor worked with on her last two albums. He wrote, “Not sure why you @Damonalbarn would try to discredit Taylor’s brilliant songwriting but as someone who has gotten to press record around her …your statements couldn’t be further from the truth…you’re obviously completely clueless as to her actual writing and work process”

While English singer Maisie Peters wrote, “taylor swift could write song 2 but damon albarn could never write all too well 10 minute version”

Following Taylor’s response and the backlash on Twitter, Damon publicly apologised to Taylor.

He wrote on Twitter, “I totally agree with you. i had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand. – Damon”

While Taylor has yet to respond to his apology, there is actually a silver lining to the feud.

Noticing all the drama between Taylor and Damon, Liam Gallagher of Oasis tweeted that he loved the feud. Fans then asked what he thought of Taylor and it turns out Liam is a bit of a Swifty.

He tweeted back saying, “Great songwriter” So at least Taylor knows Liam is a fan!
