Everything You Need To Know Ahead Of Tonight’s Oscars
As usual, the nominations are pretty pale, male and stale...
Tonight is the 92nd annual Academy Awards and we can’t wait. There’s something about seeing so many famous faces crammed into one room that is almost too much too handle.
So, whether you’re staying up to watch it or will be frantically scrolling Twitter on Monday morning for the results, here’s all you need to know.
Who is hosting?
Since Kevin Hart stepped down last year amid controversy and there was no host, the Oscar’s are following the same format this year.
Apparently there is a star-studded line-up of presenters for the individual awards so we doubt it will be missed. We always get bored of the stilted rehearsed jokes anyway.
Who we can’t wait to see presenting; Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Colman, James Corden, Keanu Reeves, Tom Hanks and Rebel Wilson to name but a few.

Which film has the most nominations?
Joker has a whopping eleven nominations with Joaquin Phoenix tipped to win Best Actor.
Any scandals this year?
As usual, the nominations are pretty pale, male and stale with Greta Gerwig being snubbed for any nominations for her fantastic adaptation of Little Women.
This is also tipped to be one of the most predictable Oscars ever, as across the board the winners have been almost identical for the awards season so far.
This sadly means that Ireland’s own, Saoirse Ronan probably won’t take home a gong, despite this being her fourth nomination at just 25.
Renee Zellweger is tipped to win for her portrayal of Judy Garland in Judy.
What to look out for?
This year the will have the first ever female to conduct the orchestra at the ceremony.
Not only is that exciting but she is Irish conductor and composer, Eimear Noone.
The Irish conductor and composer will be the first women to ever conduct the Oscars orchestra and she has said about the honour;
“Little girls everywhere will see this and say, ‘I think I’ll do that.’ That’s what we want.”
Who is performing?
Apparently Grammy award winner, Billie Eilish and Janelle Monáe will be singing on the night.
Where can I watch and when?
The Oscars are live on RTÉ2 and the RTÉ Player on Monday, February 10 from 9:35pm.
