EYNTK About The Verity Adaptation And TikTok’s Dream Casting

It looks like another one of Colleen Hoover’s novels is getting the film treatment in 2025.

Hoover’s chilling thriller, Verity is set to be adapted into a film by Amazon’s MGM Studios. And none other than Anne Hathaway has been selected to play Verity Crawford in the film, according to Deadline.

This is Hoover’s second novel to be converted into a film after the hugely successful adaptation of It Ends with Us starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni was released earlier this year.

The rest of the cast for Verity has yet to be revealed as has the release date, however it has been reported that Michael Showalter is to serve as director for the film.

What is Verity about?

Verity follows the story of writer, Lowen Ashleigh who is struggling with her writing before being offered a job that could change the trajectory of her somewhat failing career.

The romantic thriller sees Lowen attempt to finish the successful book series by famous author Verity Crawford at the request of her husband, Jeremy Crawford.

After moving into the home of Jeremey, Verity and their son Crew, Lowen discovers a sinister manuscript written by the now injured Verity with some shocking revelations that lead Lowen to believe there is a lot more hiding below the surface.

TikTok’s dream cast

The announcement that the TikTok sensation is being made into a film has sent a ripple of excitement through Hoover’s fandom as fans wait impatiently to see who will fill the other iconic roles.

Some fans have even created their own TikToks revealing who they think could bring Hoover’s characters to life.

Before it was announced Hathaway would be taking on the main role, many Hoover enthusiasts pictured Rosamund Pike playing the mysterious Verity. Her experience in psychological thrillers like Gone Girl and Saltburn made her an obvious choice.

Victoria Pedretti who starred in the thrillers Haunting of Hill House, Haunting of Bly Manor and Netflix’s You, has made her a popular candidate amongst fans to take on the role of Lowen. Dakota Johnson also seems a fan favourite on the platform.

Finally, for Jeremy Crawford fans seem to be gravitating towards the three same actors – Divergent’s Theo James, Gossip Girl’s Chase Crawford and Game of Thrones ‘Richard Madden.

We guess we will have a little while to wait to see if any of these TikTok sleuths have manifested their dream cast.
