Gillian Anderson has been chatting about the potential for an X Files reboot – and honestly, yes, let’s make that happen, ASAP.

Speaking on ITV’s This Morning the star, who found her break in the series in the ’90s, said that she had been chatting to director Ryan Coogler about maybe returning to DC.

“I spoke to him, and what I said was, ‘If anyone were to do it, I think you are the perfect person and best of luck, call me.,” she said.

“At some point, if the phone rings and it’s good and it feels like the right time, then perhaps.”

What’s more is that Cooger recently told The Last Podcast On The Left that he was, at the moment, “working on The X-Files” and had “spoken to the great Gillian Anderson.”

Interesting, indeed.

The X Files ran from 1993 to 2002 and spanned eight seasons, before an initial reboot in 2016. The series follows special agents Scully and Mudler, as they investigate crimes of the paranormal and extraterrestrial.

Anderson had previously said that she had little to no interest in another reboot. In 2022, she told Variety: “It just feels like such an old idea. I’ve done it, I did it for so many years, and it also ended on such an unfortunate note.

“In order to even begin to have that conversation about another season there would need to be a whole new set of writers and the baton would need to be handed on for it to feel like it was new and progressive. So yeah, it’s very much in the past.”

The series originally ended with Scully discovering that she was pregnant, with the father’s identity shrouded in mystery.

The storyline was then picked up in the reboot, where it was revealed that Scully’s initial pregnancy had been an “experiment,” but that she was, apparently, expecting again.

No pregnancies this time around guys, please.
