Love Island: Okay, The Harrison & Toni Situation Is Getting Ridiculous Now

Ah, Toni. Ah, Harrison. Ah, Love Island in general.

Last night’s episode was a tirade of frustration as an explosive recoupling led to tears, tantrums, and Toni still not being told that Harrison had literal sex with Lauren.

Pretty much everyone in the villa was talking about the fact that Harrison asked Harry for a condom on last night’s ep – except for Toni who was under the impression that Lauren gave him a handjob.

Toni declared that she was done with Harrison and that he should be with “a girl like her.” She then proceeded to pick him in the recoupling.

Right, right, riiiiiight.

The rest of the villa was, understandably, shocked by the decision, which led to Lauren crying in the bedroom and Harrison and Toni sitting awkwardly by the fire pit, alone.

But the islanders weren’t the only ones baffled by the decision. Views were equally as horrified by Toni’s choice, especially considering how she’d been speaking about Harrison up until that point.

“You don’t deserve me.” “You’ve done it now.” “I wish you had gone home.” etc, etc.

Toni, however, can’t be to blame. Yes, she’s going back on her word. Yes, she’s losing self respect. Yes, it’s all been very annoying, but at the end of the day, it’s Harrison who is causing every single bit of strife in that villa.

Not only did he bring Lauren back from Casa Amor, but he’s continued to flirt with Toni – heavily – while being all over Lauren and telling them both separate things.

Lauren has clearly developed feelings for Harrison, confirmed by the fact that she’s been crying over him for two full episodes now.

… Which makes complete sense considering she slept with Harrison the night previous, a fact with Harrison took it upon himself to share with the whole villa.

The next morning, Harrison told Lauren he wasn’t feeling “himself last night”, ie: when he had sex with her in a room full of people.

Now, Toni and Harrison are back to together – despite all of his actions, despite him sleeping with another woman with Toni in the room, despite Toni saying she was done with him.

You can understand why people are frustrated.

And yet, is it any surprise? The boys’ behaviour on this season of Love Island has been nothing short of abhorrent, as they pretty much have been doing anything they want and expecting to be forgiven.

And they have been, again and again.

Toni and Harrison’s relationship has been particularly frustrating because Toni has spent a lot of her time in the villa being self assured, proud, and aware of her worth.

As time has gone on however, it seems as if this confidence has been chipped away at, as she lets Harrison walk all over her again and again.

Justice for her… but also, justice for all of these girls.
