What happens when you mix luxury property with feisty drama? Yep, you guessed it, you get some seriously good reality TV. If you’ve spent quarantine fawning over the mega mansions located in the Hollywood Hills, praying for whoever lands in Christine’s firing line and rooting for Chrishell as she takes on selling the Valley, then I’m guessing you were also hooked on the Netflix hit, Selling Sunset.

The show which became increasingly popular during lockdown, launching a second season in May, is now set to bring us a highly-anticipated third installment this August. With more controversy, more properties, and more commission up for grabs, the Oppenheim Group is ready for business and a new season like no other.

Speaking about the success of the series, Jason Oppenheim explains how he’s got the “best gig on the show” as he luckily avoids all the drama. “I think it affects the women more, it doesn’t affect myself as much, unless it happens in the office, then it can be a little frustrating, but once it’s out of the office I don’t mind.”

Explaining that in real life the drama isn’t as “constant” as it’s portrayed on TV, Jason revealed that the first two seasons required six months of filming and so, all the controversy that’s jam-packed into the show makes it appear slightly more chaotic than it is on a day-to-day basis.

And with the third season dropping today, you can be sure more drama-heavy content is just around the corner.

As we’ve seen from a sneak peek of what’s to come, Christine’s wedding and the heartbreaking split of Chrishell Stause and Justin Hartley looks set to play a big part in the next season.

“Christine’s wedding is probably the most exciting thing,” explains Jason on season three. “I just hope the production side of things gets some airtime as well because it was truly an amazing event.”

In terms of property, season three also looks very promising as we get to see the sale of Hillside – a mega pad in the Hollywood Hills which featured heavily in season one and two. Selling for a staggering $35.5 million, this was one of the priciest pads to sell in the hills in years and the 20,000 sq ft property was listed by Jason himself.

Speaking about the sell, which we’re also set to see in season three, Jason said:

“It was awesome, very rewarding. You know, that was an important house for us to sell and I was really excited about it, but it was difficult to be honest. It had some ups and downs, even the escrow, but it was a great young couple that bought the house and they were really excited, so in the end it closed and that’s what matters.”

Continuing, Jason added that he “was really glad we were able to capture that sell on the show” because he “truly believes it was one of the most beautiful homes to ever sell on the Hollywood Hills.”

We don’t disagree with you there, Jason. The pool alone had us in total awe.

So, there you have it. If you weren’t counting down the days to season three, we’re sure you are now! With all the cast set to return to our screens and more promised drama and sales, a Selling Sunset binge is on the horizon, folks!
