When Does Love Island Start And Who’s Taking Part This Year?

After a long, hot hiatus due to Covid-19, Love Island is finally coming back on our screens this summer with season seven.

The last time the summer series aired was in 2019 when Limerick man Greg O’Shea and Newcastle’s Amber Rose Gill taking home the winning title and prize money of £50,000 – if you can even cast your mind back THAT far. Yep, it has been a long and anticipated wait for more shenanigans from the villa in Mallorca.

Back in January 2020 we did get the debut winter series of Love Island taking place in Cape Town, South Africa but again, all plans to air a second season earlier this year got postponed due to the pandemic and uncertainty around travel at that time.

Thankfully for us, ITV bosses were adamant that the summer season would go ahead this year, even if it meant shooting it in the UK, with the Channel Islands tipped as a runner, however, we now know since then that Mallorca is once again the stomping ground for this year’s season.

As for when it’ll take place, well, so far we’ve got the official trailer and a few sneak peeks from ITV, Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling who are both back on hosting and VO duties.

The show has also been confirmed for late June and since it regularly starts on a Monday and runs for eight weeks we’re looking at a Monday, June 28th start and August 9th ending.

Love Island bosses previously reported that this season would be it’s “biggest and best” yet, so, here’s hoping they keep to that promise and give us a lot of bombshells and plenty of singles ready to mingle. We need the dramz back in our lives.

As for contestants, well, if you’re a Love Island fan you’ll know how that’s under lock and key until the last minute. Rumoured contestants however have included Aimee-Rose Francis, an influencer from Chelsea, Dr. Toluwa Adepeju, Manchester pagent queen Alexis Bailey and amateur boxer Harley Benn to name a few.
