The BBC Has Announced A New Britney Spears Documentary

Here's everything we know so far

Great news for the #FreeBritney movement today as TV giant The BBC has confirmed the news that a Britney Spears documentary is on the way.

Last month, the entire world was gripped by New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears which showcased her life from a child star to the present day. Touching briefly on Britney’s conservatorship battle with her family, the new BBC documentary is set to focus entirely on her recent legal struggle.

Journalist Mobeen Azhar will front the documentary, traveling from Britney’s hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana to LA where he will chat with fans who are behind the #FreeBritney movement, alleging that the singer is being kept prisoner against her own will.

Filmed last year in the autumn of 2020, Mobeen attended multiple court hearings over the months of filming, speaking about the documentary titled simply ‘Britney’ he said:

“I went to LA in search of the truth of how Britney Spears, one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, ended up in a conservatorship”

“I found myself in a world of lawyers, superfans and paparazzi and spent time with many of the people who’ve had a front row seat in Britney’s life”

With an exact date yet to be confirmed, the documentary is set to air this spring on BBC Two.

The Britney documentary isn’t the only exciting doc news we’ve received this week, with Louis Theroux announcing yesterday that he will produce a second documentary on the infamous Joe Exotic.
