All of the Irish Designers Worn On The Oscars Red Carpet
We love to see it!
It may not have been Ireland’s night at this year’s Oscars with the country only winning two of the 14 prizes it was nominated for.
It was still great to see so many Irish heads amongst the Hollywood elite!
And of course, they weren’t just flying the Irish flag for themselves they opted to showcase Irish designs on the biggest stage of the year.
Ross White, Oscar-winning co-director of An Irish Goodbye won a stunning design from Derry creator Sara O’Neill wearing a scarf and pocket square.
He wore the Merrion scarf from her Eadach range around his neck. The piece was inspired by Irish writers in the Georgian Squares, from W.B. Yeats to Oscar Wilde.
His Valentine silk square which was tucked into his pocket was inspired by Victorian Dublin.
“Why yes I HAVE spent all morning trawling through the internet looking for pics of these stunners in my scribbles. How incredible is this. Just wow. So SO well deserved for such a BEAUTIFUL film,” she wrote.
“So proud of theseuns for putting this place on a global platform for something so wonderful. And SO proud of them for making space for Irish fashion during such an incredible moment. That means A LOT.
“@seamus_oharah wears the Valentine parchment pocket square & pin, @rossjwhite wears the Merrion scarf & Valentine square. Bringing the stories of here to Hollywood, both in film and in fashion. I could not love it more. More pics & outfits to follow!”
Seamus O’Hara, who starred in the flick, also wore some of Sara’s designs as well as a three pieces suit Magee 1866.
An Cailín Ciúin producer Cleona Ní Chrualaoi dazzled on the carpet. She looked like she stepped straight out of a 1950s movie in her golden gúna.

Her gorgeous dress came from the mind of Galway designer Caterina Coyne. Caterina also designed the dress of 13-year-old Catherine Clinch who is the star of the movie.
She looked like a princess in her blue dress with poof sleeves.
“@cleonanic wearing Custom @caterinacoyne to the 95th @theacademy awards. What an unbelievable day @thequietgirlfilm we are all and by all i mean the whole country of Ireland so proud of everyone involved in this movie!!!” Caterine enthused.
