The Irish Mams Were The Clear Stars Of Love Island’s ‘Meet The Parents’ Episode

Maura's mam making a beeline for Ovie. A queen!

The penultimate episode of Love Island saw the contestants’ families fly over to Majorca to reunite with their loved ones and, most importantly, meet the people they’ve been kissing on television.

We were excited to see how the Irish contingent would get on and, much to our delight, they only went and stole the entire show.

Maura’s mam Sharon arrived into the villa and, after greeting her daughter and Curtis, went STRAIGHT for Ovie:

“This is the man I want to see! I want one of your hats!” And thus a legendary friendship was born.

People took this as an indication that maybe she’s not too jazzed about Curtis, which would be understandable considering the events of the past week.

These suspicions were heightened when Maura asked her mam what she thought of her beau, and after a significant pause, Sharon said:

He’s nice. I’m trusting your judgement. And I know you’re not a bad judge of character. There’s obviously something you see in him. If you’re happy, then I’m happy.

That classic Irish mam shade. It all seems positive, but when you think a little deeper, they’ve got you.

Later on in the episode, Greg’s mum got to meet Amber, and presented her with a shamrock necklace from Ireland.

“I really wasn’t expecting it,” said a delighted Amber in the Beach Hut. “She said, ‘I’ve got you this little lucky Irish shamrock for being so lovely to my son’, and I was like, aw, thank you! I love that.”

Everyone agreed that it was probably the cutest thing to ever happen in that villa (and the fact that Amber immediately put it on and wore it for the rest of the day is very sweet too).

Both Greg and Maura are heading to the final tonight with Amber and Curtis – will we have our first ever Irish winner of Love Island? Unfortunately, we can’t vote over here, but British viewers – do the right thing.
