The Power Of Amanda Seyfried’s Range

She can do anything!

Amanda Seyfried: an actress we all know and love, and over the years has truly shown her astounding acting ability. From her high notes in Les Misérables and her seductive tone in Mamma Mia to acting with a CGI bear in Ted 2 and her alluring character in The Housemaid, Seyfried has created an extremely versatile career in Hollywood.

With her upcoming role in The Testament of Ann Lee, we want to dive deeper into her past roles – and her talent, too, because they don’t just hand out Golden Globes to anyone now do they?

Seyfried began acting at age 15 in soap operas but transitioned to films later. Her breakthrough role was Karen in Mean Girls – a classic. Seyfried played a ditzy member of the Plastics, and her iconic line reading of: “I’m a mouse, duh” has dominated Halloween parties since. This led her to one of her most renowned roles of Sophie in Mamma Mia.

Sophie is living a dream life on a Greek Island, engaged to a hot man and singing ABBA songs on a boat with three DILFS. It doesn’t get better than that, really. This role showcased Seyfried’s acting range, as well as her incredible voice. Three years later Les Misérables was released, starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and none other than Seyfried as a grown Cosette.

Les Mis was a significant yet challenging milestone in her career.Les Mis was an incredible movie. And oh God, I loved it… But I, unfortunately, was not technically ready or capable of the live singing,” Seyfried told People Magazine later. Even with the film grossing over 440 million dollars worldwide and receiving 8 Oscar nominations, she has regrets over her performance.

Before all of that, Amanda starred in Jennifer’s Body in 2009, Dear John and Letters to Juliet in 2010, and later Ted 2 in 2015. She also portrayed disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in TV series The Dropout – a role that eventually won her an Emmy. But her most recent movie The Housemaid, also starring Sydney Sweeney, has been a serious talking point in Seyfried’s varied career.

In it, Seyfried portrays the unpredictable and commanding Nina Winchester. And with a twist like *that*, she was given serious space to show off her acting skills. The film was one of the most anticipated titles of 2025, and its success has led to a resurgence of interest in the novel it’s based on, of the same name.

But that’s not all. Seyfried’s newest release, The Testament of Ann Lee, will be available in Ireland on February 20. Thanks to its limited theatrical release in America, the epic historical musical drama has already got an 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes – one for your 2026 watchlist, for sure.

Another Golden Globe, anyone?
