The Reason Bella And Gigi’s Dad Has Been Sentenced At Court Is The Most First World Problem Ever

Gigi and Bella's dad has to do community service.

Mohamed Hadid isn’t just the father to supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, he’s also an extremely wealthy real estate developer and his latest project has gotten him into a *lot* of trouble.

According to Thursday’s Los Angeles Times, the 68-year-old was sentenced to 200 hours of community service after he built an enormous mansion in the hills of Bel Air without planning permission.

He was also fined approximately $3,000, but that’s just pocket change to the millionaire.

Though the mansion is not yet complete, it covers a whopping 30,000-square-feet, and is almost two times taller than its permits allowed. According to the prosecution for the case, the house even has an IMAX movie theatre that wasn’t approved by the city of LA.

Neighbours have been complaining about the construction site from the beginning, criticising the noisy machinery, as well as the damage the construction is causing to the hill itself.

But Mohamed’s lawyer, Robert Shapiro (the same lawyer who represented O.J. Simpson in 1995, and who now represents the Kardashians), said the mansion is “as safe as any building that’s ever been built.

“I can assure you that when this building is complete, it will be one of the most beautiful homes in Bel-Air, if not the country,” he told the paper.

Ah, how the other half live, eh?
