With a new season on the horizon, we’re seeing an end the grunge-y lime green aesthetic of brat summer and being introduced to the “very mindful” and “very cutesy” trend that is demure.

Allow us to “very mindfully” and “very demurely” explain to you how this new trend came about.

The original very demure, very mindful trend was posted by TikTok star Jools Lebron. Her first video on being “very demure and modest and respectful at the workplace” was an instant hit amongst her 1.4 million followers and she has posted a plethora of “very demure” videos since.

The comical videos demonstrate how to live your life in a very demure fashion. The definition of this now famous word is to be “very quiet and well behaved”, according to the Cambridge Dictionary.

The TikTok icon has created “very demure” videos of her sipping a soda in the airport and saying “I don’t get drunk like these other girls.” She emphasises that she is “very demure and very cutesy with it” before proceeding to take a shot at the end of the video.

Another fan favourite is Lebron’s “How to thank the hotel staff when you leave the hotel in a demure way” video. The TikToker says, “I do a nice six donuts” and reveals that she doesn’t “leave her room a disaster” and that she is “very demure” and “very cutesy” when she leaves the hotel.

Just like every other TikTok trend that has come before it the “very demure” trend has had recreations galore on the social media platform. Jumping on the bandwagon, demure wannabes have been posting videos of themselves mindfully eating, preparing for work, and using public transport.
