There’s Allegedly A New Season Of Downton Abbey OTW

Downton Abbey could be making a comeback with a seventh season, and back on our screens by the end of the year!

A new series of the show is allegedly being filmed and fans are thrilled with the surprise return.

The last series of the period drama graced our screens in 2015 and filming for the new series is said to be on the down low.

A source told the Daily Mail, “filming has been going on for a few weeks now, it is all very, very secret. There are people working on it who have never seen secrecy like it.”

“Those working on the set have been made to sign non-disclosure agreements so that they don’t give the game away but there is a lot of excitement at the return of Downton.”

“It was such a huge success before and there are so many more stories to be told, it seemed such a shame not to be able to make more of it, but they’ve made it happen.”

In December, the show’s creator Julian Fellowes hinted at a comeback series during an interview with Radio Times.

He said “I have said goodbye to Downton so many times, and I have written the last scene about six or seven times. Now I’ve got out of the habit of making permanent statements about whether it’s gone.”

Due to the secrecy of the new season it’s not yet know if the original cast members (such as Hugh Bonneville and Michelle Dockery) will be returning or not, but ITV bosses have said that they are “thrilled” with the new seasons cast.

It’s also not known if the new series will pick up where the show left off in the twenties or if it will return set in a new decade.

The one thing we do know is that we’re excited to get Downton Abbey back on our screens and fingers crossed we see some familiar faces!
