There’s Now A Condom That Can Tell If Your Partner Has An STI

So you’re jumping between the sheets with a new fella, and you’re not so sure if he’s (how should we put this) ‘safe.’ Obviously, your first port of call is to use a condom, but now there’s even smarter way to stay protected. That’s cos a group of 13 and 14 year old students have come up with the ingenious idea of creating a condom that changes colour when it comes in contact with an STI.

Pretty smart, right?

S.T. EYE condom will change colour if certain types of bacteria are present that indicate the presence of STIs, and it comes with a handy colour indicator too; the condom will glow green for chlamydia, yellow for syphilis and purple for HPV.

We wanted to create something that makes detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before.

“We wanted to create something that makes detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the invasive procedures at the doctors,” one of the inventors Daanyaal Ali told The Telegraph.
