You may have noticed a slight change to some of your favourite Influencer’s feeds in the last few hours. That’s because some of Ireland’s leading social media ladies are handing over their accounts today to Irish women of colour.

The idea of the project, aptly called ‘share the mic’, is to amplify those voices that may not have been heard prior, giving a platform for Irish women of colour to showcase their stories, work, and lives

Some leading social media gals taking part in the initiative are influencer Rosie Connolly and businesswoman Marissa Carter. You can see the full line-up below.

Kicking the takeover off on Marissa Carter’s account was Miss Universe Ireland Fionnghuala O’Reilly who explained the idea behind the project to Marissa’s 127k followers.

“Today is all about amplifying the voices of Black women in Ireland, and so I’m super excited and thankful that Marissa invited me into her beautiful ig community to share my story with you all.” Fionnghuala said.

“I’ll also be taking you with me through my day, talking about race and equality in Ireland, and ways to continue to support the #BLM movement.”

Later on tonight we can expect to see other familiar faces appear on various Instagram accounts, including DJ Mona Lxsa who will be speaking on stylist Courtney Smith’s page and Sian English-Adams who will be sharing information on STELLAR’s own travel guru Nadia El Ferdaoussi’s account.
