This Euphoria Star Almost Turned Down The Role

I can't imagine anyone else playing the part, tbh.

Euphoria is possibly one of the most popular shows on TV right now. From the actual storylines to the beauty trends, it’s pretty much everywhere right now. And although the show itself is mainly based on teenagers, the themes aren’t exactly PG. Let’s just say Skins walked so Euphoria could run.

But as it turns out, one star in particular almost turned down the role – Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules.

Speaking on the Divine Frequency podcast with singer Lorde, she revealed that the role was almost not meant to be as she toyed between sticking with modelling or taking a leap of faith into acting.

“I never acted before Euphoria and it was not in my plan at all. I was really shy, I was only modelling in New York just really to be making some money and be in New York and around an industry that I wanted to work in [fashion].

“But I couldn’t have dreamed of acting and I’d never been in an audition before. My agency said casting people had reached out and asked me to come in and read for this role for this HBO show, and I didn’t know what to think of it.”

She continued to say that she just didn’t think acting was for her, particularly as she intended to go to school to study fashion in depth. “They asked me again and I ended up going in and kept getting called back which was really surprising.”

Lorde also asked Hunter how she relates to her character Jules, to which she replied, “There’s a lot of me in it. Even Jules as a character in the first season, a lot of it was built off of my experiences or director Sam’s [Levinson] so it’s a bit of a mixture of both of us.”
