If there’s one thing social media is good for, it’s sharing tips and tricks. From how to whip up coffee to the best way to brush your hair, now there’s a new hack in town, and it involves one of our favourite activities, napping.

One TikToker has gone viral for sharing his secret to getting the ‘best nap of your life’. Taking a leaf out of the defence forces book, Nick says that if you’re tied for time but need a quick kip, simply drop to the ground, elevate your legs and drift off for 8 minutes. It might sound mad, but here’s how he explained it:

As for the science behind it, it’s believed that having your legs elevated can improve your blood flow, returning blood to the heart. However, the 8-minute timer can have varied results for some people, with many unable to fall asleep within the time frame.

Experts have said that this can be a handy hack to use from time to time but shouldn’t replace a full 8-hours rest at night.
