This Northern Irish Dating Show Is Just What We Needed

We have been in dire need of a trashy new dating show.

Seeing as we’re all watching more TV than ever at the moment we’re in desperate need of newness to watch (you can only watch Friends re-runs for so long). As Love Island is officially cancelled this year and we’ve already binged our way through Too Hot To Handle and Love is Blind, we have been in dire need of a trashy new dating show.

Enter Pretty Single.

This new dating show was filmed in Northern Ireland before the Covid-19 pandemic, so don’t get panicky when you see people not socially distancing.

The premise of this show is an unusual one. It features six single women who would describe themselves as “image-obsessed.” These are glam gals who love false lashes, a hair extension and a fresh set of acrylics, but according to the shows rules they under go a ‘make-under.’

To find love they have to strip away all the glamour and go completely bare-faced before their dates. The second catch is that the other five women will be watching the dates through secret cameras giving us, the audience, a running commentary along the way.

It seems the idea behind the show if to fall in love without the ‘mask’ of make-up and that the women ultimately will end up feeling more confident in their own skin.

We’ll see how that pans out. Head over to BBC1 on Monday night at 10.45pm to tune in.
