This Northern Irish Fitness Blogger’s Before And After Pics Show Just How Much Bloating Can Affect Your Body

Food babies are real, people.

Tiffany Brien

We’ve all been there. You’re hours away from slipping into a figure-hugging dress for a big night out and out of nowhere you’re tummy has swollen up and you suddenly look like you’re six months pregnant.

Well, you’re not alone, because as Belfast fitness blogger Tiffany Brien shows, bloating can happen to anyone. Yes, even the super toned.

Writing on her Facebook page, Tiffany shared side-by-side pics 12 hours apart to show how much bloating can actually affect your bod.

“No I’m not six months pregnant. It’s just my food baby…” Tiffany writes. “These two photos are 12 hours apart, left before bed and right when I woke up…. I know right!

“We are not all what we seem on social media,” she adds. “I thought I would share a bad day with you to show you nobody is ‘perfect’ and it is ok to have an off day where your body just decides to not play ball. Don’t worry girls, it happens to the best of us, all part and parcel of being a female! It is a delightful cocktail of lack of sleep, stress, hormones and food intolerances. A mixture for a whole lotta bloat.”

Unfortunately, simply eating clean isn’t always enough to beat the bloat, as Tiffany explains.

“I cannot tell you exactly what I ate that made me blow up,” she writes. “I have gone over everything I ate and I was relatively clean so it could be something I think is ‘healthy’ that my body now thinks ‘naaa no likey.’ Sometimes your body becomes intolerable to something you’ve always eaten, you just have to work it out.”

Thankfully Tiffany does have some tried and tested tips for ensuring you stay bloat-free.

They are:

* Get your zeds
* Write a food diary and reflect where and when you bloat
* Don’t over-exercise to compensate for a bloated belly. It’s not fat. Exercising will most likely make it worse
* Look into gut health supplements – multivitamins and probiotics
* Drink peppermint tea to soothe your tum
* Relax and be happy… It’ll be ok, you’re not alone. Promise

See? Food babies are totally normal, but if you’re super fed up of the excess bloat, just follow Tiffany’s tips and yours (hopefully!) won’t make an appearance quite as often.
