Cancel your Friday night plans because the Late Late is going to spice up your life!

Spice Girl star Melanie C will be joining Ryan Tubridy on the couch and we couldn’t be more excited.

A spokesperson for The Late Late Show confirmed: “Melanie C to spice up Friday night as she is set to join host Ryan Tubridy live in studio on this week’s Late Late Show.”

Mel will return to Ireland after she and her fellow Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Emma Bunton took to the stage at Croke Park in 2019.

And it looks like, Mel will be revealing details about her upcoming music. Earlier this month she told Retro Pop Magazine that she is working on her ninth solo album.

She also spoke recently about the more traumatising parts of her life, including being sexually assaulted before her debut on stage with the Spice Girls in the nineties.

In an interview on Elizabeth Day’s How to Fail podcast ahead of the release of her forthcoming memoir Who I Am, she divulged the details of the incident.

“We were in Istanbul. We did two shows over there and we’d never done a full-length concert before, so obviously we’d rehearsed for weeks ahead, costume fittings, makeup, hair, everything was leading towards the pinnacle of everything I ever wanted to do, and ever wanted to be,” she explained.

“What drives me is being on stage, being a performer, so here we were, the eve of the first-ever Spice Girls show, so I treat myself to a massage in the hotel.”

“And what happened to me — I kind of buried, immediately, because there were other things to focus on. I didn’t want to make a fuss but also I didn’t have time to deal with it.”

She added that because she “didn’t deal with it at the time” she has since realised that that allowed for that night to be “buried for years and years and years.”

In Mel C’s new memoir, Who I AM: My Story by Melanie Chisholm, she talks about her life as part of the Spice Girls and who the real Sporty Spice is.

The Late Late Show airs on RTÉ One this Friday at 9:35pm.
