Thousands Of Transgender People Set To Lose Their Jobs Following Donald Trumps Latest Tweets

He announced that transgender people are no longer welcome to serve in the US military.

United States President Donald Trump is in hot water *again* for a recent chain of tweets in which he bans any members of the transgender community from serving in the US military.

The 71-year-old tweeted to his almost 35 million followers saying, “After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military.

“Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you.”

Naturally, the comments were met with a huge wave of criticism, not only for Trump’s blatant prejudice and bigotry, but also because there’s already thousands of transgender people currently serving in the force who will now lose their jobs.

People have been expressing their fury online, saying, “So I guess Trump’s whole ‘creating jobs’ thing meant eliminating 15,000 of them for no reason except ignorance.”

Another person wrote, “Is this not blatant job discrimination?”

In the past, transgender people were banned from fighting for their country, but this was reversed by the Obama administration in 2016.

The new rules indicated that transgender people could enlist in the force provided they’d been “stable” in their preferred gender for 18 months. The final terms of the new regulations were supposed to be announced earlier this month, but this was delayed so that Trump’s new Secretary Of Defence could evaluate the “readiness or lethality” of American troops.
