Turns Out The Friends Cast Did The Mannequin Challenge On The Show 13 Years Ago

We’ve just about reached peak Mannequin Challenge saturation point by now.

Taylor Swift did one last weekend on the beach:

Yes, the Challenge has been blowing up our newsfeeds for the past few weeks, but did you realise it actually started way back in 2003? Well, kinda. One eagle-eyed Elite Daily writer spotted this clip from Friends’ ninth season, in which the cast do a pretty impressive five-second Mannequin Challenge themselves.

As you’ll see in the video below, Rachel spots her daughter Emma crawling for the first time and bombards Joey, Monica and Chandler to come and watch. When Emma doesn’t oblige, Rachel suggests everyone stand *very* still, even Monica, who has a frying pan and a spatula in her hand.

When Phoebe comes home and spots them, she grabs a silver bowl and joins in. As you do.

The Friends crew, eh? Well before their time.
