Twitter Was All Praise For Irish CNN Reporter Donie O’Sullivan During US Capitol Chaos
The Kerry native was trending on Twitter last night for his coverage from Washington DC.
It was all love for Irish journalist and CNN reporter Donie O’Sullivan on Twitter last night. The political correspondent began trending online after he appeared on CNN – giving crucial updates from the ground at Capitol Hill amid the chaos and siege that was underway.
Explaining that journalists at the scene were getting called names and shouted at, Donie could be seen on screen trying to find his place in the crowd amid the thousands of Trump supporters, angered and violent.
Telling Donie to “stay safe” was Wolf Blitzer, veteran CNN reporter, who was back at CNN’s studio.
Describing the debris and smell of tear gas in the air, CNN’s Manu Raju, who was also on the ground described the scene while being evacuated at the US Capitol after rioters breached the building.
“These rioters have clearly … breached all elements of this building. You’re seeing debris, trash, all in the elevators, things knocked down, posts knocked down, and this is clearly a sign of how they are gone into all parts of this building,” he said.
But CNN, alongside many other brave journalists continued to report, including those from ITV who gave updates next to the rioters as they entered Capitol Hill.
Giving these journalists all the praise they deserve were those who watched the terror unfold from around the world. Watching these Journalists and press who, despite the danger of being surrounded by Trumplicans – given Trump’s opinions on the media, continued to report and provide the world with important updates.
Explaining that he felt “overwhelmed” from the love last night, here are some of the best tweets about Kerry and CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan.

All the other CNN correspondents can’t believe this stuff and are freaking out but Donie O’Sullivan is strolling around like he’s seen far worse coming out of a Carlow nightclub #donie

I won’t sleep a wink now wondering if Donie has found love in America and if his Mom is distraught that he’ll settle over there and if so, will he at least be back for Christmases

It is believed Donie has worked for CNN for five years, working for Storyful in both New York and Dublin prior to that.
Well, there you have it, Donie, you’ve won our hearts.
