WATCH: The Trailer For Netflix’s Avicii Documentary Has Been Released

The DJ passed away eight months ago.

Netflix is set to release a documentary about Avicii, eight months after he died.

The DJ, whose real name was Tim Bergling, was found dead in April of this year in Oman at the age of 28. TMZ later reported that his death was confirmed a suicide.

Having done 813 shows in eight years, Avicii announced that he was retiring from touring in 2016. Before his death, the documentary had a limited viewing after Avicii took a break from touring.

Because of this, the final scenes are meant to be quietly celebratory and show Avicii relaxing on a beach in Madagascar. But because of his tragic end, it now comes off as “chillingly false,” according to the director.

Speaking in the film, Avicii reveals that he was pressured to keep gigging after his retirement.

“When I decided to stop, I expected something completely different,” he said.

“I expected support, particularly considering everything I have been through. I have been very open with everyone I work with, and everyone who knows me.

“Everyone knows that I’ve had anxiety and that I have tried. I did not expect that people would try to pressure me into doing more gigs.”

And at one point in the documentary, Avicii’s manager Ash Pournouri admitted, “Tim is going to die, with all the interviews, radio tours and playing. He’ll drop dead.”

The documentary, which was filmed over four years, will be on Netflix on December 28th. You can watch the trailer here.
