We Finally Know Why JLO And Ben Affleck Cancelled Their First Wedding

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are a love story for the ages – at least, they certainly think so!

JLO herself has made a documentary all about her epic love affair with now husband Ben, called The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

And in the documentary, we finally find out what made their relationship break down the first time round.

For those of you who don’t follow (or are maybe too young to remember – eek), Jennifer and Ben were a huge IT couple back in the day.

In 2003, just three days before they were due to be married, they called off their wedding and went their separate ways.

Then, 17 years later in 2021, they rekindled their love, and tied the knot officially in in 2022.

At the time of their break up, fans were stunned by the sudden split – and we never seemed to get any real answers as to what caused the cancelled nuptials.

That is, until now!

In the documentary, Jen gets candid about what went down.

“Ben and I, we broke up three days before our wedding. We had a big wedding planned; 14 ushers and bridesmaids and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure.”

Why pull out of such a lavish affair? Ben confesses that it was due to “the massive amount of scrutiny around our private life.”

The statement they released to the public at the time read, “Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date. When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry.”

It continued, “we began to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be compromised. We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families and our friends.”

Unfortunately, the wedding never did occur, and the pair called it quits – until their rendezvous years later!

We’re delighted for the adorable couple that they managed to find their way back to one another.

True love wins again!
