Yes, Saoirse Ronan Would Love To Be A Bond Villain

Saoirse Ronan is ready to leave her good-girl roles behind and embrace her darker side as she has her sights set on one particularly iconic villain.

The Irish actress has revealed that she would love the chance to play a Bond villain, admitting that she is “dead serious” about the idea.

Speaking to Empire while promoting her upcoming film Bad Apples, Saoirse said she is keen to explore darker characters in the future.

“I want to go dark,” she told the publication. “I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious.”

Explaining why the idea appeals to her, the actress said she would particularly like to see a young female villain take on the role.

“I think it would be really interesting, having a young female villain.

“Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere; there’s something interesting in that dramatically,” she said.

“So I would love to do more of that.”

But Saoirse’s Bond ambitions could become even more interesting if her husband Jack Lowden were to land the role of 007.

The Scottish actor has been previously linked to the iconic role following his performances in projects including Dunkirk and Slow Horses.

Speaking on the radio in 2024, she said there was “still time” for it to happen.

And if Jack does take on the famous role, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time the couple have shared the screen.

Saoirse and Jack first met while working together on Mary Queen of Scots in 2018, and they went on to quietly tie the knot in Edinburgh in 2024.

So, while there’s no word yet on whether either of them will actually be heading to the Bond set, we can’t help but love the idea of Saoirse Ronan going up against her husband as the next big Bond villain.
